This report’s a gem and a lovely description of the battle-royale that ensed between legends John North and eventual winner Eric Stone. Barry’s time was to come – he finished 3rd.
On the road to Horton, Stone confessed to feeling tired, and he looked it. North threw everything into that last climb, closing to within 300 yards at the top, but it was too late.
