What I should have done at that point was geared myself to a 3 Peaks-specific training programme in the run-up to the event, but I thought that with the amount of activity I was doing, including hill running, biking, triathlons etc, I thought (wrongly) that a few longer hill sessions on the bike with some climbing, lifting and rough descending would be enough. Not enough for an Elite time, but enough for maybe around the 4 hour mark. “
