Another classic Rider account of the 2005 race – this time, Ian Cleverly from Mosquito Bikes gives his story. Ian’s account is full of the passion of a jilted 3 peaks rider – his 2004 attempt was badly hampered by an untimely cold, so his return shows a familiar obsession with going well in ‘the big one’ this time round. “the first full-frontal view of the mighty Ingleborough fills our vision and the grand folly that is the Three Peaks hits home for the first time. Track soon evolves into boggy grass, riding the bike becomes an impossibility and any pretence at running is swiftly abandoned as the long trudge into the mist begins.”
